Canada’s Largest Drug Lab Bust: The largest illegal drug lab running in Canada has been busted by a special unit of the RCMP, in which a huge quantity of drugs, chemicals and weapons have been recovered. Also, a person of Indian origin Gaganpreet Singh Randhawa has been arrested. As part of this operation, officers seized 54 kilograms of fentanyl, 390 kilograms of methamphetamine, 35 kilograms of cocaine, 15 kilograms of MDMA and six kilograms of cannabis.
“The 95 million potentially lethal doses of fentanyl seized could have taken the lives of every Canadian at least twice over,” said Assistant Commissioner David Table, chief of federal police for the RCMP, during a press conference Thursday. In addition to the drugs, officers seized 89 firearms, including dozens of handguns, AR-style assault rifles and submachine guns, many of which were loaded. Explosive devices, large quantities of ammunition, silencers, high capacity magazines, body armor and $500,000 in cash were also recovered.
Most of the medicines were from Falkland’s laboratory
Corporal Arash Saeed, media relations officer for federal policing in the Pacific region, said in a written statement that RCMP federal investigators conducted an enforcement action in Metro Vancouver on Friday (October 25, 2024). He said that this raid has dealt a big blow to the international organized crime group.
Assistant Commissioner David Teboul said that Randhawa faces several drug and fire arms charges. More arrests are expected as the investigation continues. The drug super lab of an international organized crime group involved in the production and distribution of large quantities of illegal drugs has been dismantled after several months of investigation.
Randhawa accused of 6 crimes
Teboul said the suspect, Gaganpreet Randhawa, was identified and arrested by officers of Federal Police Group 6. Randhawa is currently in custody and has been charged with 6 crimes. Export of a controlled substance under section 6(1) of the CDS, possession of a controlled substance under section 5(2) of the CDS, possession of a prohibited firearm under section 92(1) of the Criminal Code, possession of a prohibited firearm under section 92(1) of the Criminal Code 2) Possession of prohibited devices under section 82(1) of the Criminal Code, possession of explosive devices under section 82(1) of the Criminal Code and possession of firearms under section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code. In these cases, cases have been registered against Randhawa.
