Expressing dissatisfaction over the pace of CBI investigation, Haldar said that junior doctors fear that such an investigation could lead to bail for the accused. Haldar said, “Why was such a routine investigation conducted? We want to know what action has been taken by the central agency against the top officials of the hospital and whether the investigators have spoken to the top officials of the health department.”
Politics heats up over movement
The ruling Trinamool Congress criticized the fresh agitation by junior doctors. Senior Trinamool MP Kalyan Bandyopadhyay claimed that the junior doctors’ movement lacks direction. He said, “It seems that the movement has been ‘hijacked’ by the CPI(M) as the junior doctors no longer have any concrete issue.”
He said that CBI is investigating the RG Kar incident and the matter is pending in the court. He asked, “What is the point of making programs one after another to cause inconvenience to the common man?”
