Today is Kartik Shukla Paksha Dwitiya. Today i.e. Sunday, Chitragupta Puja and Bhai Dooj are being celebrated. Although Chitragupta Puja is celebrated a day after Diwali, but this time Kartik Shuklapaksha Yam Dwitiya in Uday Tithi is on 3rd November, hence on Sunday. chitragupta puja Along with this, Bhaidooj is also being celebrated. Lord Chitragupta is the originator of Kayasthas, but pundits say that all the people who earn their living through penmanship must perform this puja.

On this occasion, social functions are being organized in many districts of Bihar including Patna. Like every year, a big program is being organized in Gardanibagh of Patna this time too. Its preparations have already been completed. Apart from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, about 10 thousand people including many ministers, MLAs, MPs, IAS, IPS, doctors, engineers, government officials, professors and journalists participate in Chitragupta Puja. People from every caste and even other religions have been attending this program. Here, CM Nitish Kumar extended warm wishes on the occasion of Chitragupta Puja. He wrote on social media that worshiping Lord Chitragupta, the presiding deity of knowledge, increases people’s interest in reading and writing. It is my wish that the light of knowledge and education should spread from every home in Bihar and with the efforts of everyone, Bihar should reach the pinnacle of progress.

Last festival of the festival of lights

According to ritualistic expert pundits, Bhaidooj and Chitragupta Puja are the last festivals of the series of Deepotsav. After this, preparations for the great festival of folk faith, Chhath, will begin in Bihar. Bhaidooj is performed by women in many castes of Sanatan Hindu religion. Be it unmarried girls or married women, all will do Bhaidooj. According to tradition, married women of Kayastha caste would like their brother to come to their in-laws’ house and worship Lord Chitragupta and after Bhai Dooj, eat food prepared by him along with Prasad. Pandit Shashikant Mishra explains that “Both the festivals are on Kartik Shukla Paksha Dwitiya. Despite being a Pandit by caste, Lord Chitragupta is also worshiped along with Bhaidooj in our house, because we are also pen-man. Those who are pen-man, they are worshiped as Lord Chitragupta. Chitragupta must be worshipped. Apart from the Kayasthas, the consciousness of Chitragupta, who provided letters to the writers, is being worshiped among the other castes too.
