Seven trackmen were seriously injured during track maintenance in Buxar. He was immediately admitted to Dumraon Sub-Divisional Hospital. The incident took place near pole number 645/34 from the western railway gate of Dumraon station. Among the injured workers, Satyendra Kumar (38), resident of Dhanchhapra, Brahmapur, has suffered serious injuries. The injured personnel include Santosh Kumar, resident of Baruna, Ashok Ram, resident of Bakhtiyarpur, Prem Ram, resident of Lalganj Mathia, Bhoda Kharwar, resident of Gaura, Shri Bhagwan Yadav, resident of Kushalpur and Munna Yadav, resident of Mungav.
Track distancing work was going on
Regarding the incident, the track man says that track distancing work was going on near Dumraon station of DDU Patna railway section. Due to this, a 90-minute block was imposed on the down line. Trackmen from Dumraon, Buxar and Baruna of Buxar section were actively engaged in the maintenance work. The track had to be cut by 12 meters near pole number 645/34 so that the rails would not slip when the tracks expanded due to temperature. To cut the tracks, fish plates up to 12 meters long were opened. As soon as both ends of the track were cut, a 12 meter piece of cut track jumped towards the outer surface, injuring 7 trackmen. The injured railway employees were hurriedly taken to a private hospital, where they were given first aid. Then the serious personnel were referred to the sub-divisional hospital.
Railway employees accused section in-charge of negligence
After the incident, the injured railway employees have made many allegations against section in-charge Pramod Kumar. Railway employees said that the incident happened due to the shortcomings of the section in-charge. He got all the keys of the fish plate opened and asked them to stay outside, whereas the track cut on the outer surface bounced, due to which this accident occurred. Railway employees alleged that the section in-charge puts so much work pressure on the employees that we all are dissatisfied with their attitude. We are also pressurized towards work and are also threatened with suspension. He alleged that not a single railway vehicle was present there during the incident. We all somehow brought the injured comrades to the hospital. Section in-charge Pramod Kumar has termed the allegations against him as baseless. He said that there is no hurry but there is a responsibility to ensure that the work is completed in the time given by the block. In such a situation, instructions are given to the trackman to complete the work on time. This incident is just a misfortune. The injured have been sent for timely treatment.
Trains on that route were not disrupted
Railway employees said that the incident did not affect rail traffic and trains. The down line was cleared after the scheduled time for the block was 14:55. The first train left at 15:04, Secunderabad Danapur Special train towards Arrah. However, the trains were being operated on caution.
