government of india issued guidelines to air passengers for internet uses check details

Government Guidelines in Flight Internet Uses: The Central Government has issued instructions for air passengers regarding the use of internet services during flight. The government has said that during air flight, passengers will be able to use internet services through Wi-Fi only after reaching an altitude of three thousand meters. The Central Government order states that passengers can use electronic devices only in aircraft that have reached an altitude of 3000 meters. The Central Government has given these instructions in its notified new rules.

The central government made these rules

This newly notified rule of the Central Government will be called the Flight and Maritime Connectivity (Amendment) Rules, 2024. The order states that ‘despite the minimum altitude in the Indian airspace specified in sub-rule (1), Internet service through Wi-Fi will be provided in the aircraft only when electronic gadgets are permitted to be used in the aircraft.

The government took the decision for this reason

Such instructions have been given by the government to avoid interference with terrestrial mobile networks. Earlier in the year 2020, the government had allowed airlines operating in India to provide free Wi-Fi to passengers during flights. After this, the restrictions imposed on passengers during flight were removed. The Civil Aviation Ministry had said that passengers will now be able to use Wi-Fi in flights. But for this two conditions have to be followed.

It was said that the captain will have the authority to turn on or off Wi-Fi in the flight. Also, Wi-Fi will be operational only when the aircraft is at stable speed. At the same time, it will have to be kept closed during take-off or landing.
