Mahant Dhirupuri Bapu of Jangelshwar Mahadev Temple told that this temple is about 500 to 600 years old. This temple is situated in a forest area, on the banks of river Aji. Muslim families also have faith in this temple. On special festivals, people of Muslim families offer a plate to Mahadev, which reflects their unwavering devotion.
Temple’s special relationship with Pakistani family
Jangleshwar Mahadev Temple is situated in the forested area of Rajkot. A family from Pakistan also has a special connection with this temple. According to Mahant, this relationship is special because Jangleshwar Mahadev had given the slip to a family member from Pakistan.
The family of Karachi had received the message in 1986
Mahant told that in 1986, grandfather had sent a special signal to a family in Karachi. According to that family, this signal was given to the 11 year old son by his grandfather. The family had come from Karachi especially to have darshan of Jangleshwar Mahadev and they say that they have full faith in Dada. This family comes regularly to see Mahadev.
Muslim families also offer plates and food
In this temple, people of Muslim family also keep a plate and offer churma to grandfather. There are 125 vine trees planted right in front of the temple. Devotees take Bilipatra from here and offer it to Dada. There are also two snakes in the temple which give darshan to the devotees from time to time, which further increases the devotion among the devotees.
The area was named after Jangleshwar Mahadev.
Mahant said that this area is named Jangleshwar after the name of Jangleshwar Mahadev. This temple is the place of Athamana Barane and Swayambhu Mahadev. Just as Trimbakeshwar Mahadev of Nashik is famous, similarly the temple of Jangeleshwar Mahadev is prominent in Rajkot. Like Trimbakeshwar temple, the Shivalinga here is also protruding 1 inch. This temple is about 8-10 feet high from the ground, and the shape of the Shivalinga is such that Dada’s face is on the right side.
