Live even at 100°C
Water Bear They can survive even in water which reaches 100°C while boiling. The reason behind this organism’s survival in such conditions is called cryptobiosis. Actually, cryptobiosis is such a physical condition, in which the organism almost completely stops functioning of its body and the metabolism stops completely. During this process, water bears deposit a kind of chemical substance called glycerol in their cells, which protects them from heat or extreme cold.
This also happens through the toning process.
Apart from cryptobiosis, these organisms also protect themselves by toning. Actually, in this stage, water bears extract water from their cells and shrink their body parts and form a kind of hard shell outside themselves, which protects them from extreme heat and cold. The biggest thing is that these organisms can survive in this condition for months, years or sometimes even decades.
