The last rites of famous folk singer Sharda Sinha will be performed with state honors in Patna on Thursday. District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh said that the mortal remains were brought by plane on Wednesday. The funeral will take place at 9 am. There was a queue of people throughout the day at the house of Bihar Nightingale in Rajendra Nagar, Patna. He died on Tuesday night during treatment at Delhi AIIMS.
Sharda Sinha’s mortal remains have been kept at her Rajendra Nagar home in Patna for last respects. Sharda Sinha (72) died at 9:20 pm on Tuesday night during treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached Sinha’s house on Wednesday afternoon to pay tribute. He has announced to conduct the last rites of Sharda Sinha with full state honours. He said, the voice of Bihar Kokila gave recognition to the cultural traditions of Bihar not only across the country but also at the international level.
Sharda Sinha’s music was not just a means of entertainment, but it contained the simplicity of the villages of Bihar, the joy of festivals and the sweetness of family bonds. His Chhath Puja songs, wedding songs and other traditional songs had become an integral part of the lives of the people of Bihar and Eastern India. Sharda Sinha had made an emotional post after the demise of her husband Brajbhushan Sinha. In this she had written that I will also come soon. Her husband died on 17 September this year. In the post, Sharda Sinha had remembered the moments spent with her husband. It was written, ‘On my birthday, when everyone at home was fast asleep, Sinha Saheb would quietly get up and bring me roses and breakfast and wait till I woke up. As soon as I woke up, he would give me roses and wish me happy birthday.
