Amidst the pomp of Chhath festival, criminals spread fear among the people by committing a snatching incident near the SP office in Saharsa. Bunty Bhagat, a resident of Sitanabad, was going to attend the Chhath festival with her family at around 10 am on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, criminals riding a bike snatched the earring from her ear, due to which she got injured.
According to the information, at the time of the incident, Bunty Bhagat was returning to her village by auto and was just a few steps away from the SP office. The criminals also tried to snatch the mangalsutra from the woman’s neck, but when she raised an alarm, they fled on the bike.
After receiving information about the incident, Sadar police station immediately reached the spot and started investigating the matter. With the help of local people, the woman was sent to the nearest medical store for first aid. After this snatching, anger spread in the area and people demanded strict action from the police against the criminals.
People said that during crowded times like Chhath festival, women go out dressed up, due to which their jewelery becomes the target of criminals. Many similar incidents of snatching were reported during Durga Puja also. The lack of security arrangements during festivals and such incidents near the SP office shows the high morale of the criminals.
