use of transgenic technology
The officials of the company claim that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research has developed transgenic technology. With the help of this technique, new species of brinjal Janak and Bt varieties of BSS-793 have been developed. Bt gene, Cry1 FA1 gene has been used in this species. It has also been patented by IARI. By using this technique, better quality vegetables can be produced.
No damage to seeds
Company officials say that Bejo Sheetal had licensed the technology in 2005. University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, Karnataka has been requested to conduct the test. Specifically developed for resistance against pests such as the shoot and fruit borer Lucinodes orbonalis. The good thing about these species is that the loss percentage of seeds is very less. Understand like this, if 100 fruits are taken then 97 are marketable without any loss.
Testing will be done under the supervision of scientists
Company officials say that if the request for testing hybrid brinjal varieties is accepted, then the next step of the company will be to get it tested. For this, the company will approach the Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee, the biotechnology regulator in India. if on time we If the guidelines are found, then in the Kharif season itself, testing will be done in one hectare area under the supervision of a scientist or crop breeder nominated from the university level.
