Lenskart Manufacturing Unit: Eyewear retailer Lenskart is going to make a big investment in Telangana. The company signed an MoU with the Telangana government, under which a manufacturing plant will be set up in the state at a cost of about Rs 1,500 crore. It is expected that this will provide employment to about 2,100 people.
World’s largest eye wear plant in Telangana
State Industries and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, while mentioning this on his official account on Twitter, wrote, It is a great pleasure to announce the signing of an MoU with Lenskart.
Under this, the company will set up the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing unit in Telangana with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore. He also said that this manufacturing unit will produce all eye related items like lenses, sunglasses etc.
Products will also be imported from here
Shridhar Babu also informed that the products made here will also be exported to South-East Asia and Middle East. With the establishment of this unit, 2,100 new jobs will be created. Besides, Research and Development Center related to this can also be established.
The minister also said that land has been identified to build the factory, which will be handed over to Lenskart this week. He further said that this is the policy made by our government, due to which companies get the facility to move the work forward faster.
Bengaluru was also included in the list
Earlier, in April, Lenskart co-founder and CEO Peyush Bansal had said through a post on LinkedIn that the company would set up a ‘mega factory’ within a radius of 60 kilometers from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. ‘Looking for 25 acres of land to build.
In response to this, State Industries Minister MB Patil said that he is committed to providing investment. However, the matter did not progress further. It is noteworthy that in both the states, Congress Party is in power.
