She further wrote that when I met Nitin in Coorg, he told me how a small insect sacrifices its life for the fig to grow. Actually, when the female wasp has to lay eggs, she enters the fig flower and lays eggs there. While entering the flower, the female’s wings break and she dies inside. After this the fig digests the dead body of this organism.’

If we look at it from the perspective given by actress Shehnaz. So maybe yes. But, there are millions of vegetarian people who do not believe this and eat figs because of its benefits. However, people who follow Jainism are said to stay away from figs.

Why people of Jainism do not eat figs
Actually, people who believe in Jainism follow non-violence and stay away from the consumption of meat. This is the reason why many people of this community do not consume figs. But, this is not the case with common vegetarian people. Many vegans and vegetarians believe that wasps going inside and dying there and nourishing the figs is a natural process, so the figs can be eaten.

Commenting on this post, a user named luckyknov wrote that technically speaking, there is hardly one wasp in a fig. This wasp also gets completely destroyed from inside the fig due to the enzyme called ficin and turns into protein. Another user commented that do not believe this video, because this video is not technically completely correct.
