Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has recently decided to postpone the examination of Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer. This decision has been taken in view of the performance of the students and the issues raised by them. Students had expressed many concerns regarding the conduct of the examination. Especially against the normalization process, which is applicable when the examination is conducted in more than one shift.
Students say that if the examination is conducted in two shifts, then the process of normalization will be adopted, which may harm good students. They argue that the difficulty level of question papers may differ in different shifts, which will affect the results. In this situation, the students had demanded to conduct the examination on the same day and in the same shift. History and reasons for examination
This year, in January 2024, UPSC had issued the notification for RO/ARO exam, in which it was told that the exam will be held on March 17, 2024. However, it was later postponed and again scheduled for the month of October. After this, the examination conducted earlier was canceled due to paper leak. Due to these incidents, frustration increased among the students and they took to the streets and protested.

In this matter, UPSC had said that they do not have enough centers available for such a large number of candidates. The Commission also clarified that they have already conducted a large number of examinations, but due to the current circumstances they had to take this decision. Finally, keeping in mind the demands of the students, UPSC has decided to postpone the RO/ARO exam and now it will be conducted in a single shift. This step has been taken keeping in mind the interests of the students, so that their concerns can be resolved.
Will candidates have to apply again?
After the postponement of RO/ARO examination by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, candidates will not be required to apply again. When the Commission postpones an examination, generally the already filled application forms remain valid.
