CBSE Board Exam 2025 Board Cuts syllabus know changes and updates

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a reduction of up to 15% in the class 10th and 12th syllabus for the upcoming 2025 board exams. This step has been taken with the aim of giving students an opportunity to study deeply and reducing the habit of cramming. This important announcement was shared by the Board officials during the Principal Summit held in Indore.

Reduction in syllabus up to 15%

CBSE’s Bhopal regional officer, Vikas Kumar Aggarwal said that the cut in the syllabus is in line with the new educational structure of the board. Its purpose is to free students from the burden of excessive subject matter, so that they can study the subjects in depth in a more effective manner. Through this change, students will get an opportunity to think and understand various aspects of the subjects by going beyond the limitations of books.

increase in internal assessment

This time the weightage of internal assessment in the board exams has been increased to 40%, which will now be an important part of the final grade of the students. The remaining 60% marks will traditionally be based on the final board examination. Internal assessment will include projects, assignments, and periodic tests. This will give students a better opportunity to showcase their abilities through continuous assessment. Vikas Aggarwal said that this change will give students an opportunity to demonstrate their real understanding and skills more effectively.

Emphasis on skill based questions

CBSE is now giving priority to skill-based education in its examination system. About 50% of the question papers in the board exams of 2025 will be based on real-life applications, problems and practical situations rather than theoretical knowledge. This change is being made under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to promote critical thinking and problem solving abilities in students.

According to experts, it is clear from these changes that CBSE is promoting understanding and skill based assessment instead of cramming in the education system, due to which students will not only be able to perform better in the examinations, but will also be able to face the challenges of real life.
