Churu. Mhari chhoriya ke chhora se kam hai ke… You must have heard this dialogue. This small tag line has many meanings in Rajasthan. Bindauri rituals are performed during weddings in many parts of the country including Rajasthan. In this sequence of rituals, the boy sits on the mare and comes to marry the bride. But a family from Churu has done something new. He took out Bindauri by placing his own daughter on a mare. Manoj Kumar Saini, resident of Ward 6 of the city, has given the message of equality of sons and daughters in the society and has given the message of non-discrimination by making his daughter Monica Saini sit on a mare. The relatives who had come to attend the wedding also joined the daughter’s Bindouri.
Yash Saini, brother of graduate Monica Saini, says that Monica is the second among four siblings and has one elder and one younger sister. Monica is getting married to Hemant Saini of Ratangarh on 16th November. Everyone in the family sat down and took a collective decision to remove the bandori on Monica’s mare with the aim of erasing the difference between son and daughter and after decorating Monica like a groom, the mare was placed on the horse. He made him sit and played Bandori on his DJ in the entire locality. Seeing the daughter sitting on the mare, the residents of the locality also welcomed Monica at every place.
Let us tell you that even before this, this has happened many times in Rajasthan, in which the bride herself has come to meet her groom sitting on a mare. Times are changing and with this change people are now reducing the discrimination between boys and girls.
