Chhatarpur: It is said that passion is a big thing, passion does not look at the status. There is one such person, a resident of Gaurihar in the district, who teaches children in a government school and does the work of cutting people’s hair in the evening. Puran Lal Sen who is higher educated but is still doing hair cutting work. He says that he has been doing the work of cutting people’s hair for years. This is how I have studied till here. Currently, I teach children in a government school as a guest teacher, but I definitely open my shop, no matter how few customers come.
Puran Lal Sen while talking to Local 18 says that even though I am a teacher today, the hair salon shop has been very lucky for me. This shop has paid for my education. I am from a poor family. The parents were poor. He did not have enough money to bear the expenses of education. That’s why he died after cutting his hair. Graduated from Hindi Literature and thus completed his education.
I completed BA in 2014 and then did D.Ed in 2016. Along with studies, he also kept doing hair cutting work. However, even after doing BA and D.Ed, I did not get a job. In bad times, this small shop sustained my family. This year was lucky for me, I had filled the guest teacher form. My name appeared in the list of guests so I just joined. I am a primary teacher in class-3. I go to school to teach in the morning and open my shop in the evening.
Will keep doing hair cutting
Puran Lal says that he gets a salary of Rs 10,000 every month, which is enough for the expenses of his family. But still I will not leave the job of hair cutting. This small dilapidated shop has brought me here, that is why I open the shop every day even if no customer comes. I open the shop for the whole day on Sunday.
Hair cutting is done for less money
Puran tells that as I am a normal person, the rate of hair cutting remains the same. I charge Rs 30 for a haircut and only Rs 20 for a shave. My shop may be small but I do excellent hair cutting, that is why customers keep coming even after not opening the shop the whole day.
