Seat vacant after resignation of MLA Ziaur Rahman
The main reason for the by-election in Kundarki assembly seat was the resignation of SP MLA Ziaur Rahman Burke. Ziaur Rahman had captured this seat by winning on SP ticket in the 2022 assembly elections. Recently, after his grandfather and SP MP Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Burke won the Sambhal parliamentary seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Ziaur Rahman resigned from the Kundarki assembly seat. He took this decision to take over the parliamentary responsibilities of his grandfather. Due to his resignation, Kundarki seat became vacant, due to which by-election was held here.
