PM Modi Man Ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Said on Sunday (24 November) that his government considers the eastern region of India as the development engine of the country, whereas earlier this region was considered backward. Addressing the gathering at the ‘Odisha Parv’ program here, the Prime Minister said that investment worth Rs 45,000 crore has been approved within 100 days of the formation of the new government in the state.

PM Modi said, “Odisha has always been the land of saints and scholars. The way the scholars here took our religious texts to every home and connected people with them, it has played an important role in the cultural prosperity of India.” He said, “There was a time when the eastern region of India and the states there were called backward. However, I consider the eastern region of India as the engine of development of the country. That is why we have given priority to the development of the eastern region of India.”

Investment worth Rs 45,000 crore approved within 100 days

Modi said, “The budget we are allocating to Odisha now is three times more than what it was 10 years ago. We are working rapidly in every field for the development of Odisha and this year the budget has been increased by 30 percent.” The Prime Minister said that the Central Government is committed to ease of doing business in Odisha and investment worth Rs 45,000 crore has been approved within 100 days of the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.

‘All four doors of Jagannath temple were opened’

He said, “Last year the G20 summit was held in India. During the G20 summit, we had shown the picture of the Sun Temple (in Konark). I am also happy that all the four doors of Jagannath Temple (in Puri) have now opened. Apart from this, the gem store of the temple is also open.” Odisha Parv is a major event organized by the Oriya Samaj, a Delhi-based trust engaged in providing valuable support for the preservation and promotion of Oriya heritage.

Organization of “Odisha Parv” from 22nd November to 24th November

This year, “Odisha Parv” was organized from 22nd November to 24th November to showcase the rich heritage of Odisha, showcase colorful cultural forms and showcase the vibrant social, cultural and political ethos of the state. He said that cashew, jute, cotton, turmeric and oilseeds are produced in abundance in Odisha. He said that the government’s effort is to ensure that these products reach big markets and farmers benefit from it.

‘Odisha sea food has to be made a brand’

Modi said, “Odisha’s seafood processing industry also has great potential for expansion and the government’s effort is to make Odisha seafood a brand that is in demand in the global market.”

Modi said that by channelizing the potential of Odisha in the right direction, the state can be taken to new heights of development. The Prime Minister said, “Odisha is an important trade center for East and South-East Asia. Odisha’s importance in the global chain will increase further in the coming times. Our government is also working on the goal of increasing exports from the state.”
