Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced a one-day window for submission of fresh application forms for the candidates who have crossed the age limit for the JK Police Constable Recruitment Examination. According to reports, originally 5,59,135 candidates were to appear in the examination to be held on December 1, 8 and 22, 2024 for 4002 posts of Constable (Home Department), but now the number of candidates is expected to increase further. There is a possibility.
The new forms will be accepted today, 30th November 2024 only in offline format as the examinations will be conducted as per schedule over three days starting from 1st December. The written examination for Armed/IRP/Executive/SDRF category candidates is scheduled to be held on December 1, 2024, while the examinations for Telecom and Photographer posts are scheduled for December 8 and December 22.
Exam will be held at so many centers
Constable (Executive/Armed/SDRF) examinations will be conducted on December 1 at 856 centers in the districts.for which 2,62,863 candidates will appear in the UT, out of which the maximum of 54,296 candidates will appear from Jammu district. Similarly, for Constable (Telecom) 1,67,609 candidates will appear in the examination to be held on 08 December and 1,28,663 candidates will appear in the Constable (Photographer) examination on 22 December this year.

But the number is likely to increase after the interim order of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on November 29, directing the JKSSB to consider these candidates provisionally, to allow them to participate in the recruitment process . In the petition WP(C) No. 2159/2024 titled Deepak Sharma and 78 Others vs. UT of J&K and Others, the empaneled candidates had challenged the age restrictions imposed on recruitment citing delay in the recruitment process due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was given because no recruitment could be done for two years.

The court’s interim order has allowed the petitioners to appear for the upcoming examinations, although their participation will not guarantee them preferential treatment and any final appointment will depend on the court’s decision. As per the direction of the court, JKSSB has informed the concerned candidates that their application forms will be received in offline mode.
