Delhi Police Crime Branch may visit Parliament on December 24 in connection with the clash in the Parliament complex. Two BJP MPs were injured in the clash. Former Odisha ministers Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Uttar Pradesh’s Mukesh Rajput were injured in a face-off clash between opposition and NDA MPs in the Parliament complex on December 19 over alleged insult to BR Ambedkar.

The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing him and instigating other members of his party. At the same time, the Congress leader rejected this allegation. On the same day, police booked Rahul Gandhi and others in connection with the case and transferred the investigation to the Crime Branch. A police source said that a team of the Crime Branch’s ISC (Inter State Cell) has been assigned the investigation. He said the team is likely to visit the incident site in Parliament on Tuesday.

The source said, ‘The team is waiting for approval from the Parliament Secretariat and as soon as they get the approval, they will visit the crime scene and also look at the CCTV footage. An official, on condition of anonymity, said the team will also record the statements of the two injured MPs depending on their health condition. The officer said that if needed, statements of other witnesses can also be recorded in the coming days. Sarangi and Rajput, who suffered head injuries, were discharged from Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Monday. A doctor said that the condition of both the MPs is much better now and they have been discharged. Both the leaders were kept under observation in the ICU and shifted to a ward on Saturday.
