Kanjhawala Case: The Rohini court has extended the judicial custody of the five accused in the Kanjhawala case for 14 days. However, the accused could not be brought to the court due to security reasons. For this, the judge himself went to Tihar Jail and increased judicial custody by setting up a court there. Earlier, the court had rejected the bail plea of accused Deepak Khanna and also reprimanded the Delhi Police for evasiveness.
Additional Sessions Judge of Rohini Court Sushil Bala Dagar said that it appears that the investigating officer is not opposing the bail application. The approach of the investigating agency appears to be non-serious. The court has directed to take answers on bail applications in future under the supervision of the concerned DCP. The court observed that it is pertinent to mention that the reply received today on this bail application is very vague and non-specific on all the grounds.
‘No opposition to bail application’
The judge said that it appears from the reply that the IO is not opposing the bail application. The investigating agency should not take such non-sensitive approach. It shocks the judicial conscience of the court that such equivocal non-specific, vague grounds are being made in response. The approach of the investigating agency appears to be non-specific.
Two accused in the case on bail
Ankush and Ashutosh have got bail. Five other accused including Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Manoj Mittal, Krishna and Mithun are in judicial custody. He was to be produced in the court on 23 January. Deepak Khanna was initially accused of being the driver of the car. However, a few days later, the police investigation found that his cousin and friends told the police that he was with them at the time of the accident as none of them had a driving license. The police had found that Deepak’s phone location and call records showed that he was at home throughout the day.
