Detail Review: The cycle of time is strange. It rarely happens in India where after marriage a woman does a job and takes care of the household expenses and the husband is a house husband. In this situation, the roles of husband and wife change, but if a man is given training from childhood to handle power, then he starts thinking of himself as inferior and also doubts his wife. He does not have any problem with his successful wife working, but he finds it small to handle household chores.
A strange panic enters inside him and he tries in his heart that somehow if any mistake of his wife is caught, then I should be proud of her. Anyway, very few people can understand this kind of relationship, let alone accept it. The recently released film “Me Time” on Netflix is a quirky yet funny comedy, in which the story of one such couple has been shown and along with it, the absurd demand of the house husband to give himself time has also been shown through fun.
Director John Hamburg has been trying his luck in Hollywood for quite some time now. He has also written the story of Me Time. He has written amazing comedies like Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers and directed films like Along Came Polly and I Love You Man which have been very successful. John has also left some small, but important messages in this film through Buddy, that is, comedy between friends.
Kevin Hart is a house husband who takes care of his home and kids in the best possible way. His wife Regina Hall is a successful architect. Kevin meets the children’s fathers at the children’s school and is intrigued by their lives. Kevin also wants to take a break from family responsibilities and goes to a secluded area to celebrate the 44th birthday of his old friend Mark Wahlberg. At first, Kevin is very jealous of his friend’s lifestyle, but gradually he realizes the reality. Jealous of his wife, Kevin hopes that his wife will have an affair with his boss, but when he comes face to face with reality, the ground beneath Kevin’s feet slips.
Some reasons to watch Me Time are – Kevin Hart’s performance. Although Kevin is also a singer, songwriter, producer and director, but because of his comic timing, his acting is very much liked. Starting from a small role, Kevin is such a big star today that special shows of his stand up comedy are shown on Netflix. Kevin seems comfortable as a father who loves children very much and while finding reasons to be jealous of his wife’s success, Kevin also presents comedy very easily. His friend Mark Wahlberg is a wonderful actor. Mark started his career as a pop singer but today he is remembered not only for the best comedy but also for many strong roles. Although Mark’s role is not that big, but his role as a carefree person is very funny.
It’s fun to see his capricious character end up like a good and decent working person for his expenses. The character of Regina Hall is very small but important in the story. The rest of the characters are small, fit in their respective places. As Armando, renowned Mexican artist Luiz Gerardo Mendez appears as a fake motivational speaker and environmentalist, showing his affection for the turtle.
Me Time could have been better, but the good thing is that except for one or two scenes, there is no fictional incident in the film Hacker. Stealing all of Armando’s shoes on his left foot is a new experiment by Mark Wahlberg. The film is short and everything is circumstantial so don’t watch it with your mind. Watch it as a complete comedy film and then enjoy. Anyway, sometimes watching such movies is good for the mind.
