Flights and trains delayed due to fog: Dense fog blanketed parts of Delhi-NCR on Friday, reducing visibility to zero, affecting air and rail services. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of moderate to very dense fog in many areas of North India including Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
According to data from the Central Control Board website, the air quality index (AQI) of the capital was recorded at 408 at around 6 am, which was recorded in the ‘severe’ category. International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in a release at 6 am on Friday that air services have been affected due to dense fog. More than 150 flights have been affected due to low visibility.
Flights and trains were affected
According to Flightradar24, the average delay was 41 minutes. However, DIAL assured passengers that CAT III-compliant flights can take off and land. Hundreds of flights and trains have been canceled or delayed due to dense fog in North India in the last few weeks. Due to fog, 26 trains are running behind schedule.
According to IMD, the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 9.6 degrees. The weather agency said that the maximum and minimum temperature of the capital on Friday will be between 6 to 20 degrees Celsius. Delhi- Amid the sharp increase in air pollution levels, the provisions of Phase 3 under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) were re-implemented on Thursday.

Air pollution increased in Delhi
Air pollution levels in Delhi were assessed to have increased, with the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) reaching 357 at 4 pm on Thursday, up from 297 on Wednesday. Delhi- The Air Pollution Management Commission, which is responsible for formulating the strategy to reduce air pollution, directed the officials of the region to immediately implement the norms prescribed under Phase 3 to avoid worsening of the situation. In GRP Phase 3 on Sunday Non-industrial construction work has been banned.
Under Phase 3, classes up to Class 5 are required to shift to hybrid mode. Under Phase 3, BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars (four wheelers) are banned from manufacturers in and around Delhi. Phase 3 also bans mid-range models running on non-essential diesel engines of BS-IV or older standards in the national capital.
