Israel Houthi Missile Drone Attack: The Israeli Air Force has shot down 3 drones fired by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi extremists. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) said that the Houthi drone was shot down on the evening of Thursday (January 9). However, this was the first attack on Israel by Iran-backed Houthi extremists in recent days. Out of the three drones fired by Houthis from Yemen, only one drone was successful in reaching Israeli territory, while the remaining two drones were already shot down by Israel. Let us tell you that this attack by Houthis was carried out only a few hours after the IDF released the data of drones and missiles fired from Yemen since October 7, 2023.
Israel could not stop a Houthi missile
The IDF said on Thursday (January 9) that since the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, Yemen’s Houthi extremists have attacked Israel with 40 ballistic missiles and more than 320 drones. Most of these attacks were already eliminated by the Israeli air defense system Iron Dome. But the Israeli air defense system failed to shoot down only one Houthi missile. At the same time, all others were intercepted.
Only two drone attacks were effective in Israel
The Israeli Army said that the IDF has recorded data of more than 320 drones being fired on Israel from Yemen during the war. In which more than 100 drone attacks were shot down by the Israeli Air Force through ground air defense systems, fighter jets and helicopters. Many drones were destroyed by the Israeli Navy. But only 2 drone attacks were effective in Israel.
At the beginning of this week, the IDF shot down a missile fired from Yemen before it could enter Israeli territory. The Houthis had said that the purpose of their attack was to target Orot Rabin, Israel’s largest power plant. Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi extremists had claimed to launch Palestine-2 model hypersonic ballistic missile.
