Pakistan Boat Capsize: At least 10 students of a madrassa were killed when a boat capsized in a lake in Pakistan on Sunday (January 29). Police officer said that 10 students who went on a picnic drowned after their boat capsized in a lake in the northwest of Pakistan. The children of a madrasa in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province had gone for a picnic on the lake at Tanda Dam.
Local police officer Kismat Khan said that there were 25 students on the boat. Six were rescued, three of whom are in critical condition. The dead students are between 11 and 13, nine children are missing. The official said that the rescue workers have recovered 10 bodies.

“As per preliminary reports, the boat capsized due to overloading,” he said. District Police Officer Abdul Rauf Kaisarani reached the spot to supervise the rescue operation. Due to the lack of life-saving divers locally, they were called from the provincial capital Peshawar. During this, the local people joined the authorities in removing the dead bodies from the water.

The rescue team of Pakistan Army has also reached the spot, where the rescue operation is being conducted. Acting Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Azam Khan directed the local administration to provide emergency relief to the affected families.
42 people died in a bus accident as well
On Sunday itself, 42 people, including women and children, were killed when a speeding passenger bus collided with a pillar of a bridge and fell into a ditch in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The police officer said that the bus carrying at least 48 passengers was going from provincial capital Quetta to Karachi, the capital and main city of Sindh province.
He said that this bus collided with a pole on the bridge and caught fire after falling into the ditch. This accident happened due to high speed in Lasbela area. He told that the bus hit a bridge pillar while taking a U-turn near Lasbela.
