Erode East Bye Election AIADMK Candidate: The tussle between the two factions of the opposition party AIADMK (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu has come to the fore on Wednesday (February 1). In fact, both the camps have announced their respective candidates for the Erode East assembly seat. Former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam (O Panneerselvam -OPS) has declared Senthil Murugan as the party’s candidate for the Erode East bypoll. Earlier in the afternoon, the E. Palaniswami (EPS) camp of the party had announced KS Thennarasu as the party’s candidate.

Talking to the media in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam said that he has sought support from the BJP and is waiting for it. They said, ,I have asked BJP to support us in Erode East bypoll. If the BJP announces its candidate, we will withdraw our candidature from the election.” However, he has fielded Senthil Murugan for the Erode East Bye Election. So far, AIADMK’s ally BJP has contested this by-election. Has not clarified its stand on supporting the common candidate for.
EPS has also fielded candidates
Prior to the announcement of AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam’s candidate for the Erode East assembly seat, the EPS camp had declared its candidate for the seat. On Wednesday itself, Interim General Secretary K Edappadi Palaniswami (Edappadi Palaniswami-EPS) has fielded former AIADMK MLA and Erode Urban District MGR Mandram secretary KS Thennarasu (KS Thennarasu) as the party’s candidate for the Erode East Assembly bypoll.
He is a strong leader of Congress and former Union Minister E.V.K.S. Will challenge Elangovan. He is contesting the elections from the Congress-DMK alliance. Elangovan has the support of the ruling DMK. The opposition AIADMK camp may face embarrassment by fielding its candidate from the rival faction led by O Panneerselvam, as two candidates are in the fray from the same party.
By-election after the death of the MLA
Congress MLA from Erode East constituency E Thirumagan Evera died of a heart attack on January 4. He is the son of Congress leader EVKS Elangovan. After that this seat was vacant. Because of this by-election is being held on this seat. Voting is to be held for the by-election on Erode East assembly seat on February 27. The last date for filing nominations for this seat is February 8 and the counting of votes will take place on March 2.
