The budget of Delhi Police has been increased this year to make it technologically strong and to increase the satisfaction level of policemen towards police housing infrastructure. Delhi Police will get Rs 11,932.03 crore under the budget provisions announced for the financial year 2023-24. This is about 15 and a half percent more than last year. In the last financial year 2022-23, Delhi Police received a total of Rs 10,355.29 crore. In this way Delhi Police has got Rs 1,576.29 crore more than last year.
Delhi Police officials told that Rs 10,642.11 crore will be spent on salaries of policemen, electricity-water, phone bills, rent of buildings, office stationery and other maintenance-related items. Under the Delhi Police Housing Corporation, the process of constructing new houses equipped with modern facilities for the residence of police personnel is being expedited. In view of this, Rs 270 crore will be spent separately in the budget only for the construction of police infrastructure.
In this, along with the office building, new residential building will also be constructed, so that the satisfaction level of the policemen towards police housing will increase. Money will also be spent from this head for the operation and maintenance of the new police headquarters on PPP mode. Please tell here that in the last year 2022-23, Rs 259 crore was given for the construction of the building. A budget of Rs 264.12 crore has been kept for modernization of police. Last year this budget was 152.52 crores. This budget is 111.50 crore more than last year.
1019.92 will be spent to improve law and order
Rs 1019.92 crore will be spent out of the budget to improve the system of law and order, communication and surveillance in Delhi. New CCTV cameras will be purchased. This amount will be spent on digital trunking radio system to purchase various types of modern technology based equipment and upgrade the communication system to maintain and modernize law and order. Apart from this, necessary equipment will also be purchased to promote Intelligent Traffic Management System and money will be spent on purchasing different types of new vehicles and other equipment for policing work.
