Collegium Row: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has once again given a statement amidst the assurance of the Central Government to approve the recommendation made by the Collegium in December last year. Describing the government as the servant of the people, he said that the country will be governed by the Constitution.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said in Prayagraj, “I have seen reports in the media that the Supreme Court has given a warning (on the Collegium). The people of this country are the owners of this country, we are the servants. Our guide is the Constitution. The country will run according to the constitution. No one can warn anyone. We see ourselves as servants.” The Central Government had told on Friday (3 February) that the recommendation of the collegium made in December last year for the appointment of five judges in the Supreme Court would be approved soon. .

What is the matter?
The collegium had recommended the names of five judges for elevation to the Supreme Court on December 13 last year. These include Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal, Patna High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Karol, Manipur High Court Chief Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, Patna High Court Judge Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Allahabad High Court Judge Manoj Mishra.
Later on January 31, Chief Justice D.Y. The collegium headed by Chandrachud recommended the names of Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Arvind Kumar to the Center for elevation as Supreme Court judges.
