Pakistan Terrorist Attack: Thousands of people took to the streets in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to register their protest against the growing anarchy and terrorism in the region. People have demanded to strengthen the weak police force.
According to The Express Tribune, people in the demonstration were carrying white flags and demanding strict action against terrorism. Members of civil society, lawyers, political activists and general public participated in the protests organized in Peshawar, Bajaur, Deir Upper, Deir Lower, Bannu, Di Khan and other major cities.
Police at the forefront of terrorist fight
According to a report in The Express Tribune, people said that the police have been at the forefront of the terror fight and they should be given security and proper equipment to effectively deal with the menace.
The rallies are taking place at a time when Pakistan is affected by militancy, mostly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and the Punjab city of Mianwali and the outskirts of Islamabad.
Peshawar terror attack killed 101 people
On 30 January, a massive explosion rocked a mosque in Peshawar’s Red Zone area, where 300 to 400 people, mostly police officers, had gathered for prayers. A suicide blast caused the wall and roof of the mosque to collapse, killing 101 people. The Express Tribune reported that the previous month was the deadliest since 2018, with 134 people losing their lives and 254 injured in at least 44 terror attacks across the country.
Several rallies organized by local rights organizations were organized in KP’s Shangla district on Friday. The rallies were addressed by the leadership of various political parties including PTI, PPP, Awami National Party (ANP) and others.
