Mahakumbh of postage stamps has been organized at Pragati Maidan. Rare stamps of the country can be seen here. Here are letters sent from Madras City to London in 1818, letters sent from Calcutta Round Post Office in 1834 and countless letters sent from one city to another in the country in the early 18th-19th centuries.
1400 frames of postage stamps and more than one lakh postage stamps have been displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Communications and India Post, has been named Amrutpex-2023. Railway, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav launched it on Saturday. The exhibition will run till February 15 from 10 am to 6:30 pm.
Hundreds of people viewed the rare Indian postage stamps on the very first day of the exhibition held in the new hall five of Pragati Maidan. People liked the postage stamps depicting the history, culture and art of India. Here a collection of stamps issued on Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Ramayana, Buddha, trees and plants, animals and birds, butterflies, flowers, historical buildings, railway stations etc. can be seen. Could A digital experience of postage stamps can also be had at the fair. Workshops and seminars on postage stamps are being organized. New postage stamps are also being released.
Rare collection of Parliament Museum present
Rare collections of the Indian Parliament Museum can also be seen here. National and international postage stamps will also be available. Available here are stamps on letters issued for the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting held in India in 1989 and Germany in 1980. Postage stamps issued on the completion of 50 years of the country’s republic, postage stamps issued on the first meeting of the Indian Constituent Assembly can be seen in the exhibition.
Vaishnav honored 10 children
At the launch of the exhibition, Ashwani Vaishnav released a film on the transformational journey of India Post and commemorative stamps on the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. After this, 10 children were felicitated, who won the competition for designing postage stamps on independence. More than 50 stalls have been set up for the sale of Philatelic items at the function.
