On February 2, at the Baba Haridas Nagar police station, a youth named Sachin complained about the theft of his Honda City car. The complainant said that on the night of February 1, he had gone to Ugrasen Park, Gaushala No. 2, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road in a Honda City car. From where someone stole his car. The investigation of the case was handed over to the Vehicle Theft Prevention Branch. The police team led by Inspector Kamlesh Kumar examined the CCTV camera footage and ANPR cameras (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) of the spot. In which it was found that another car has been used while stealing the car.

The police identified the i10 car of the accused through the CCTV footage installed near the Jharoda border. The car was registered in the name of Deepak, a resident of Bamdoli. The police took Deepak into custody. At first he tried to mislead the police but later confessed to his involvement in the crime. During interrogation, he told that the complainant Sachin is a friend of the college. He was looking to buy a new car. The price of his old Honda City car was getting less. To get the insurance amount, he plans to report the incident of car theft.

Deepak was about to sell the car to scrap dealers, but two days later Sachin told him that the police were following his car by checking the CCTV cameras. After that, they burnt the car by taking it to a deserted place. After that claim the insurance. The complainant got Rs 35,000. Police found in the investigation that Sachin was in contact with Deepak before and after the incident. Police officials say that Sachin and Krishna are absconding since the arrest of Deepak, for whose arrest the police is raiding.
