You must have seen in films how mobile phones are supplied to the prisoners and they create fear in the world of crime from inside. But does it really happen? It is difficult to claim about every place, but recently a similar incident has happened in Britain which has shocked everyone. According to the Daily Star news website, 25-year-old Rachel Martin was a guard at HMP Guys Marsh and there she started having an affair with a 40-year-old inmate named Raymond Abraham. The surprising thing is that Rachel knew about a big secret of Abraham, yet she did not inform any other policeman about it. The secret was the mobile phone that Abraham had.
Used to take money in exchange for sending obscene photos
When that phone was searched, dozens of obscene photos of Rachel () were recovered from it. Later it was revealed that Rachel used to extort money from Abraham instead of sending those photos. Not only this, she used to supply women’s undergarments to Abraham in jail. It was revealed at the Bournemouth Crown Court that the relationship between the two lasted from 1 November 2020 to 8 March 2021. During this, Rachel extorted money from Abraham. When the bank transfers and cash deposits were calculated, it was found that the woman had extorted a total of Rs 12 lakh from the prisoner in exchange for her photographs.
Used to send obscene messages to the prisoner
With this money, women used to buy expensive things for themselves. In February 2021, the police got suspicious after seeing the valuables of the woman, so they searched her and found a machine used in romance from her coat pocket. After 3 days the police searched Abraham, then went and recovered the phone, two USB sticks, and an SD card from him which had Rachel’s photos. Martin took leave that day on the pretext of ill health and resigned after two days. But in April 2021, the police raided his house and got about Rs 3 lakh cash from there. A phone was also recovered from him, in which both of them had obscene messages and many such information were received which showed that Rachel used to take money from Abraham. The woman’s lawyer argued in the court that she was young and like a young girl, she liked to spend money on herself. Rachel was sentenced to 16 months in prison, while Abraham was already serving a 10-year sentence.
