This popular picture of Bhagat Singh was taken on 8 April 1929 before throwing a bomb in the Central Assembly. Actually, in April 1929, Bhagat Singh and his companion Batukeshwar Dutt had reached Delhi. Where the Parliament House of India is today, it was once called the Council House. Two days before the introduction of the Safety Bill, i.e. on 6 April 1929, Bhagat Singh along with his companion Batukeshwar Dutt went to the assembly hall of the Council House and reviewed how the operation could be carried out. However, just two days before this i.e. on April 4, Bhagat Singh went to a studio in Delhi and here he took this famous picture. The studio where Bhagat Singh went is Ramnath Studio located in Kashmere Gate area of Delhi.

In fact, the same members of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army who had planned to throw a bomb in the council assembly, had also planned to take Bhagat Singh to the studio and take a photograph of him. While taking photographs, he had instructed the photographer that his friend was going away from him… so a good picture of him should be clicked. However, the real story behind this is that Bhagat Singh wished that after his arrest, this picture of him should be published at various places in India. Due to this, this picture reached many newspapers of India and today this picture is most popular in the whole world.
