Why Is The Garib Rath Train Fare Cheaper Know Its Facilities

Gareeb Rath Train: Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, Indian Railways keeps on making necessary changes from time to time. This change may include providing any other facility for the passengers or running a special train etc. A similar change took place in the year 2006, when the Railways started the Garib Rath train. The purpose of starting this train was to make common people travel in 3rd AC at low fare. Let us know about the features of this train.

All coaches are 3 ac

In the year 2006, the cheap air-conditioned train ‘Garib Rath’ was started by the Indian Railways. It was started by the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. The operation of the first ‘Garib Rath’ Express started between Saharsa, Bihar to Amritsar, Punjab. Later, Garib Rath Express was started on many more routes. All its coaches are AC three-tier and its fare is also less as compared to 3AC coaches of other trains. The coaches of Garib Rath train have more berths (78 to 81) as compared to 3AC coaches of other trains.

Its 3A coach has 18 lower berths, 18 middle berths, 18 upper berths, 9 side lower, 9 side middle and 9 side upper berths. The coaches which have sleeping facilities have the coach code “G”, that is, if a passenger books a berth in sleeper 3A class, his coach number will be of type G-1, G-2 etc.

The train runs at a speed of 140 km

Garib Raths are generally long distance trains with few stops. The average speed of these trains is about 81 km/h, while their maximum speed is 140 km/h. Garib Rath trains have a total of 12 bogies. Under the plan to convert these trains into mail trains, the number of coaches can also be increased from 12 to 16. These 16 coaches will have third AC, second AC, sleeper and general coaches.

That’s why rent is cheaper

The fare of the third AC coach of this train is about 40 percent cheaper than the normal third AC. Actually, its rent is cheap because there is neither food nor bed in it. If the passenger wants food and bed roll, then he has to pay separately for that. Rs 25 has to be paid for a bed roll, in which one pillow, one blanket and two sheets are available. Due to low cost and easy facilities in Garib Rath train, its fare is cheap.
