  • Shivaji Maharaj established the Ashta Pradhan Mandal, a council of eight officers, who guided Shivaji on a variety of political and administrative issues.
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is said to be the first Indian king of medieval India to have his own navy. He launched his first naval campaign in 1665.
  • Shivaji did not have formal education but he had good knowledge of Ramayana and Mahabharata and always believed in learning something new.
  • He was strongly against religious discrimination and had many brave soldiers like Daulat Khan and Ibrahim Khan in his navy.
