Delhi: Open Skill Centers Will Make Women Of Backward Areas Empowered And Prosperous, Ministry Of Education’s Plan

Now the government will make the women living in very backward areas of the country economically prosperous and self-reliant. For this, open skill centers will be set up in different states. The initiative will be implemented by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) under the scheme of the Union Ministry of Education.

Through these centres, women belonging to backward classes, marginalized and tribal communities of different states of the country will get maximum benefit. Women will get free vocational education in the centres. Under the plan, it is to be opened primarily at eight places in the country. Of this, Bankura (West Bengal), Koderma (Jharkhand), Mehsana (Gujarat), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Kamrup Rural (Assam), Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir), Bastar (Chhattisgarh) and Bangalore (Karnataka) are included. Three centers have been opened in Odisha, Jharkhand and Gujarat.

First skill center opened in Mehsana district of Gujarat

In this sequence, the state’s first free skill center was started on Tuesday in Kanbha village under Mehsana district of Gujarat. In the programme, Professor Saroj Sharma, President, NIOS, while underlining the importance of the skill center, said that primarily about 100 women and girls of the district will be trained in free employment skills.
