Along with Delhi, a large number of new cases have been found in Maharashtra.

1100 new cases found in Maharashtra

On Wednesday, 1100 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in Maharashtra, while four more patients died due to infection. After the arrival of new cases, the total number of infected in the state has increased to 81,58,393, while the total number of dead has increased to 1,48,489 after four people succumbed to the infection. The number of patients under treatment of Kovid-19 in the state has increased to 6,102. Out of the new cases found in Maharashtra, 234 new cases were reported in Mumbai and one patient died.

The state government took this step

In view of the spurt in the cases of corona in Maharashtra, the state government is re-operating 25 hospitals dedicated to the treatment of the epidemic. Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan said that amid rising cases of Kovid-19, the state has restarted 25 dedicated hospitals for the treatment of Kovid-19 under the Department of Medical Education and Research. There are 5,000 beds, over 2,000 ventilators, 62 liquid medical oxygen and 37 PSA oxygen plants for COVID-19 patients. Mock drills were conducted in these hospitals on 10 and 11 April.

A senior health official said on Wednesday that the states with high infection rates are Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The official said that all domestic passengers coming to Tripura from states where the rate of corona virus infection is high will have to compulsorily undergo a test of Kovid on reaching the airport, railway station and Churaibari check gate.

He said that it is necessary to wear masks in hospitals. According to him, screening will be done at all public places. The official said that since April 14, 10 new cases of Kovid have come in the state. He said that the focus should be on a five-point strategy and these points are testing, detection, treatment, vaccination and adherence to Covid-friendly behavior respectively. The Department of Health and Family Welfare has earlier issued an advisory asking people to avoid overcrowding.

How many cases found in Puducherry?

Meanwhile, a woman died of corona in Puducherry on Wednesday. A 78-year-old woman from Kuruskuppam, a neighboring coastal village, died of COVID-19, a senior health department official said. During the testing of 954 samples in the last 24 hours in the Union Territory, 83 new cases were registered. The number of active cases in Puducherry is 500.
