The Allahabad High Court has issued a contempt notice to Lucknow Police Recruitment and Promotion Board chairman and currently DGP Rajkumar Vishwakarma and ADGP Establishment Police Headquarters Sanjay Singhal. It has been directed to comply with the order within one month or appear in the court. The High Court said, prima facie a case of contempt is made out against the officers. Even before this, an opportunity has been given to comply with the order on the contempt petition. Now the contempt petition has been filed again.

Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal has given this order while hearing the contempt petition of Shivraj Singh of Baghpat. It was stated in the petition that the petitioner was recruited in 1989 on the post of constable. In 2008, after being promoted, he was appointed as Police Sub-Inspector. After qualifying for promotion to the post of Inspector, the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) has recommended promotion of the petitioner to the post of Inspector in a closed envelope. Due to the criminal case registered against the petitioner in Ghaziabad’s Mussoorie police station on charges of corruption, his envelope is not being opened.

The Court ordered the Police Recruitment Board to open the closed envelope and ad-hoc promotion of the petitioner, which was not followed, then a contempt petition was filed. The court had given a chance to comply with the order in a month. Due to non-compliance of the order, this petition has been filed again.
