Betting Apps: Apple has asked the government for concrete evidence or say solid reason to obey the order of the Government of India. In fact, in February, MeitY asked Apple and Android makers to remove some betting apps from the App Store and Play Store. In response to this, Apple has sought a solid reason from the government as to why this should be done. According to ET’s report, Apple said that some betting apps are available in countries other than India and they come under legal policy, so banning them only in India will not be right until the company has a solid reason for this. Can’t get it.
MietY had issued a list of banning a total of 138 betting apps. Some of these apps have been deleted by the company, while Betway, BetNetix and Bet Analytix are still present on the betting app store. Google has removed these applications from the Playstore. Well, Apple is also ready to obey the orders of the government, but the company has asked the Government of India for its solid region.
Apple has these three options
Apple has three options against the order of the Government of India. Either the company can give a legal and solid reason behind not obeying the government’s order, or challenge the government in court, as Twitter did last year, or quietly accept the government’s order. Last year, the Government of India had asked Twitter to remove content related to the farmer’s movement and dealing with Corona from the platform. In response, Twitter challenged the government in the Karnataka High Court.
Actually, the Government of India wants to remove these betting apps from everywhere because they are violating the IT Act 69a, as well as they contain such information which can become a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
