The marriage of a 21-year-old girl from Chinhat area was fixed with Govind Rai alias Monu of Punjab. The family members also completed the ceremony of Roka together. Conversation started in both of them. Suddenly the girl’s father died. The girl’s fiance came to condole with his mother. During this, he made physical relations with the girl. This process continued for four nights. After this, calling the girl a manglik, he refused to marry her. After about a year of hesitation, the victim lodged a case at the Chinhat police station. The accused has been trying for bail for nine months.
A year ago, on June 15, the girl lodged a case at the Chinhat police station. The girl alleged that her fiance refused to marry her saying that she was Manglik. Earlier he had raped her. The accused fiancé was arrested by the Chinhat police on 27 September 2022. Critic SI Abhishek Pandey found the accused Govind Rai alias Monu accused of rape during the investigation.

Two days after the arrest, on September 29, 2022, the charge sheet in the case was filed in the court. Since then the accused is trying for bail. While hearing the petition, the Lucknow bench of the High Court ordered the astrology department of Lucknow University to check the horoscope of the girl and tell whether she is Manglik or not. The Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of the matter on Saturday. The Supreme Court immediately stayed the order of the High Court.
After this said that the High Court should hear the bail of the accused on the basis of merits on June 26. The matter came into limelight after the Supreme Court took cognizance. In this case, Chinhat in-charge Inspector Alok Rao told that the victim was raped. The investigator has filed the charge sheet. The accused was arrested nine months ago. All the allegations made by the victim were found to be correct in the investigation.
