Government junkyards and Delhi Police stations have become breeding hotspots for dengue-carrying Aedes mosquitoes and trouble for the MCD. Junkyards built secretly on the other side of the high boundary wall have been storing junk under the open sky for years. When it rains, water is getting accumulated in this junkyard and mosquitoes are breeding. Here the DBC employees of MCD do not even get entry for fogging. The people living nearby are suffering because of this.
At present, due to intermittent rains, the weather is favorable for breeding of Aedes mosquitoes. In such a situation, the concern of the Public Health Department has increased. Because dengue cases may start increasing due to this. There are many such offices of both the Central Government and the State Government in Delhi, in whose premises a mountain of junk has been stored under the open sky for years. According to senior MCD officials, despite sending notices several times, no response is received from these offices. Here they are not able to take any action even if they want to.

Despite this, in most of the police stations, the corporation personnel do not get entry for fogging.

Meanwhile, meetings of DC and Public Health Department are being held with RWAs continuously on zone basis, efforts are being made to reduce the production of mosquitoes by making people aware. There have been eight cases of dengue in Delhi in the last one week and a total of 16 cases in 17 days this month. Similarly, cases of chikungunya and malaria are also increasing. The junk on the roof has to be cleaned, the water in the cooler has to be changed daily. Not allowing water to accumulate anywhere in the vicinity is the right way to prevent mosquitoes.
