Exhibition to be held at Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts from June 30 to July 9

New Delhi. The Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts is organizing an exhibition from June 30 to July 9, where banknotes depicting UNESCO World Heritage Sites will be displayed in a unique way. The curator of this unique exhibition is Rukmini Dahanukar. The exhibition will be inaugurated on June 30. High commissioners and ambassadors of G-20 countries will attend it.
Organized as part of the ongoing G-20 Summit celebrations under the chairmanship of India, the exhibition focuses on bank notes of the member countries. It will be a special occasion, when UNESCO is celebrating 50 years of the World Heritage Convention, while India is also celebrating 75 years of independence and the whole of India is celebrating Amrit Kaal. Giving this information through a press conference on Tuesday, Pura Lekhpal Prof. in the cultural archives of IGNCA. Kumar Sanjay Jha said that Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts is going to present the first of its kind exhibition Banking on World Heritage. Never before have banknotes depicting UNESCO World Heritage Sites around the world been presented and commemorated in such a unique way.
Rukmini Dahanukar, curator of the exhibition, said that the exhibition will educate the millennial generation (people born in the 1980s and 90s) and youth about their culture and heritage through the medium of banknotes. The bank notes of our country have 17 languages of the country, which shows the unity in diversity. The exhibition will also showcase the connection between humanity and culture through bank notes. Interestingly, the images printed on the currencies issued by the G-20 member countries match our history and grand monuments. In this, the society and history of the world can be effectively understood.
Banknote experts to participate in panel discussion
A panel discussion will also be organized to enhance the experience of the exhibition. The panel discussion will feature Sudhakar Qajar, Former Managing Director, Reserve Bank of India Mudran Limited, Professor Poonam Mahajan, NCAER, Ashish Chandra, Country Director, Delaru India Pvt Ltd, Scholar Anand Kothari and Rukmini Dahanukar, Curator of the Exhibition. Rukmini’s organization ‘Money Talks’ is constantly researching banknotes, art and design from around the world.
