The role of two officers of Transport Department of Delhi Government, Joint Secretary Manoj and PCO Mahesh, is being considered suspicious in the case of illegal transfer of auto permit in Burari Authority. Initial investigation has revealed that these officers did not properly investigate the cases of auto permits being transferred illegally and the role of officers of Burari Authority at that time.
After investigation, these officers told the permit transfer system to be correct and wrote that auto permits are being transferred properly through online method. This departmental inquiry was done in the year 2021 itself. A senior official of Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) said that both the officers were called to the ACB office for questioning last week. In the inquiry, both of them have not written anything clearly in the written answer.
A senior official said that the ACB is writing a letter to the Transport Department of the Delhi government to take action for not discharging its duty properly in a day or two. In the investigation of these officers, it was not revealed that forgery and fraud are taking place in so many big cases in the auto permit transfer case. In response to ACB’s letter, the Transport Department of Delhi Government has written that they had implemented the faceless scheme in the year 2021. Although it came into force on August 10, 21, but it was started in phases from the month of March. ACB has written a letter to the Transport Department asking when the faceless scheme was notified.
Verification and approval of 1500 cases in a few hours
Around 3500 auto permits have been transferred during the time of arrested Motor Vehicle Inspector Suresh Kumar. ACB officials say that it is taking eight to 10 days to trace a case. In such a situation, the police is considering 1500 cases as suspicious in the initial investigation. These are the cases in which the permit transfer was approved after verification in two to three hours. Police will look into the next cases only after the investigation of these cases. So far, more than 25 such cases have come in whose autos were not the original owners and their permits were transferred to someone else.
Investigation in a case takes several days: Madhur Verma
ACB chief Madhur Verma told that the investigation process is very long. Investigation of a case takes eight to ten days. The real owner of the auto is traced and called. After this the buyer of the auto permit is called. Documents are viewed. After this a conclusion is reached. Under the supervision of ACB Chief Madhur Verma, a huge team of Additional Police Commissioner Shweta Singh Chauhan, ACP Janrail Singh and Inspector Lakshmi arrested 14 people including Vehicle Inspector Suresh Kumar, Finance, Dealer and Pimp.
The production of the accused inspector today
The ACB has taken the arrested Inspector Suresh Kumar on police remand for three days. His remand ends on Monday. He will be produced in the court on Monday. ACB chief Madhur Verma said that now the chief financier will be taken on police remand.
Auto permits have been transferred illegally in 2021
Inspector Suresh Kumar is currently posted in Sarai Kale Khan Authority. He was posted at Burari Authority from Jan’21 to Dec’21. The Inspector is the final authority to allow the transfer of auto permit in the Authority. Suresh Kumar transferred permits of 3500 autos during his one year tenure. At present, 1500 permit transfers are considered illegal.
