Pradosh Vrat Importance: Trayodashi is celebrated on Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha of every month. The fast of Trayodashi of each side is called Pradosh Vrat. The time after sunset and before the onset of night is called Pradosh Kaal. Lord Shiva is worshiped during Pradosh Vrat. To please Lord Shiva, Pradosh Vrat is observed on this day. It is believed that on the day of Pradosh, Lord Shiva dances in his Rajat Bhavan located on Mount Kailash.
Sawan’s first Pradosh Vrat
The glory of Pradosh Vrat that comes in Sawan increases even more. This year, due to Sawan being of 59 days, there will be 4 Pradoshas in Sawan. The first Pradosh Vrat of Sawan will be observed on 14th July, Friday. All the Pradosh fasts observed throughout the year are considered best for the worship of Mahadev, but its importance increases a lot in the month of Sawan.
The Trayodashi falling in Sawan is considered very special for the worship of Lord Shankar.
Auspicious time of Pradosh Vrat
according to the calendar Monsoon The Trayodashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of the month will start on July 14, 2023 at 07:17 PM and will end on July 15 at 08:32 PM. Lord Shiva is worshiped only during the Pradosh period, therefore Shukra Pradosh Vrat will be observed on 14th July only. On this day, the time of Shiva Puja will be from 07.21 to 09.24 in the night.
Worship method of Pradosh Vrat
Lord Shiva is pleased by observing the fast of Pradosh and removes all the faults. Pradosh Kaal i.e. evening time is considered auspicious for worship on the day of Pradosh Vrat. For this, take bath one hour before sunset and wear clean clothes. After bath, start worship in the auspicious time in the evening. Abhishek Shivling with cow’s milk, curd, ghee, honey and Gangajal. Now apply white sandalwood on the Shivling and offer belpatra, madar, flowers, hemp and perform worship and aarti methodically.
