Delhi News: One More Accused Arrested From Imphal In Havildar’s Murder


Ratan Lal was killed in Delhi riots

Delhi Police had announced a reward of one lakh on his arrest.

New Delhi. Havildar Ratan Lal was killed in the 2020 Delhi riots in protest against the CAA and NRC. One of the accused involved in the murder has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Khalid, a resident of Chandbagh. The accused was nabbed from the Indo-Myanmar border in Imphal, Manipur.

For the last three years, Khalid was continuously throwing dust in the eyes of the police. Delhi Police had declared a reward of one lakh on his arrest. Last month, the Special Cell arrested Khalid’s elder brother and prime accused in the Ratan Lal murder case, Mohammad Ayaz. Since then Khalid was being searched continuously.

Special Commissioner of Crime Branch Ravindra Singh Yadav said that in January 2020, Mohammad Ayaz along with his brother Khalid and others was protesting against the CAA at Chand Bagh in North-East Delhi. Meanwhile, the protesters had started blocking the road. Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Sharma, ACP Anuj Kumar and others present on the spot started removing the protesters from the spot.

During this, the protesters attacked the police team and also pelted stones. Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Sharma and ACP Anuj Kumar were badly injured in the attack, while Ratan Lal succumbed to his injuries. After the incident, investigation was started by registering a case under various sections in Dayalpur police station.

The police nabbed many including the main accused Ayaz in the case, but by impersonating Khalid, kept throwing dust in the eyes of the police. Meanwhile, the police got information that the accused Khalid was in Imphal. Immediately a team was sent and the accused was nabbed from Manipur. During interrogation, he accepted the murder of Ratanlal.
