The flood and rain situation in most of the states of North India remains critical. A car was washed away and several houses damaged in a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh’s Rohru district in the early hours of Sunday. A bridge on the Malari Highway connecting the border with China has been damaged in Uttarakhand’s Joshimath, affecting the movement of the Army and the Border Roads Organization (BRO). In Punjab, more than 100 villages are still submerged in flood water. Due to abnormal rains in 14 districts of Rajasthan, the situation has not yet become normal.

Due to a cloudburst in Rohru, there was a sudden rush of water in the Malkhun drain under Bhalada Panchayat at 3:00 pm, in which the car parked on the road beside the drain was washed away. Due to rise in the water level of Shikdi Khad, about two dozen families have been affected due to water and debris entering the slums built on the banks of the Khad in Samala along with Rohru Bazar. Along with the dam site of the Savada Kuddu project, a kilometer portion of the road built for Chamshu got engulfed in the dam. Bal Krishna (16) son of Dola Ram was crushed to death due to debris falling from a hill in a village in Mandi. Another body was found in Beas river in Dharampur area of ​​the district. In Kullu, from Manali to Aut, 20 bodies have been found in the Beas river.

Uttarakhand: 286 roads closed, hill cracked due to heavy rains

The bridge on the Joshimath-Malari highway in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand has been damaged due to a sudden surge of water in the Girthi river on Sunday morning. The approach road of the bridge has been completely damaged. It is feared that the water level of the river has increased due to breaking of icebergs or glaciers in the border areas adjacent to the higher Himalayas. 286 roads are still closed due to debris in the state. In Bageshwar’s Unniyan village, a hill cracked during heavy rains on Saturday night. Due to this many families have come under threat. Behla river is in spate in Kashipur and water has entered many villages.

Himachal: Many highways including Manali-Chandigarh opened

Bus operations have started from Kullu to Delhi, Pathankot, Dharamshala and Shimla after the Manali-Chandigarh and Kullu-Mandi highways opened a week later. However, due to rain, NH Mandi-Kullu remained closed for some time near six miles. The situation has not become normal in Kullu yet. In the panchayats of Banjar, Sainj and Parvati Valley, telecom services of many companies have come to a standstill. Many roads, including the Darcha-Shikunla road, are still closed. 687 citizens of 29 countries are currently stranded in Kullu, who are safe.

Union minister Anurag Thakur said more aid would come immediately after the state government sends the damage assessment report. During the meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee-Disha Committee in his parliamentary constituency, District Bilaspur, Anurag Thakur had a detailed discussion with the officers of the concerned department on the ongoing development works and gave necessary guidelines for its proper implementation. Anurag is on a four-day tour of Himachal Pradesh. He is inspecting the relief and rescue work by meeting the people who are facing heavy rains and disaster in the state. On the third day of the tour, he visited Dadhol, Bilaspur, Ghumarwin and Swarghat. Thakur said that if there is a danger to anyone’s house and there is a need to install a security wall, then money is being given for that too.

Punjab: Supply affected due to cancellation of trains

All schools in Punjab will open from Monday. The Education Minister has asked all the DCs to take stock of the submerged school buildings and take a decision on opening the schools only when they are safe. However, around 100 villages in the state are still in the grip of floods. Heavy rains in Hoshiarpur district on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday left many villages waterlogged.

  • Raw material could not reach Ludhiana due to cancellation of trains and closure of roads. Finished goods are also stuck. Traders could not ship the orders on time. Due to this the industries have lost crores.
