Worship with this method on the day of Putrada Ekadashi
On the day of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi fast, get up early in the morning before sunrise and take a bath in a holy river. If this is not possible, take bath at home by mixing Ganga water in the bath water. After taking bath, wear clean clothes and take a vow of fasting. After this sit at the place of worship facing east. Install a wooden post and purify it by sprinkling some Ganges water on it.
Now spread red or yellow cloth on this post and then install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu. Light a lamp of pure desi ghee in front of the idol of Lord Vishnu and establish the Kalash. After this, offer flowers, coconut, fruits, sweets and bananas to Lord Vishnu. Do listen to the story of Putrada Ekadashi fast during worship. This fast is considered incomplete without listening to the story. If you are finding it difficult to keep waterless fast, then do fruit fast.
The next day, after taking bath in the morning, offer food to the Brahmins and then break the fast. Vishnu Sahastranam should be recited on the day of Putrada Ekadashi. It is also very auspicious to chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra on this day.
