World Cup 2023: Team India’s tension increased amid the World Cup, Shubman Gill’s return is certain to be delayed.

IND Vs AFG: India’s star opener Shubman Gill will not be a part of the match played against Afghanistan on Wednesday due to dengue. There is very little possibility that Shubman Gill will be seen on the field in the great match against Pakistan on Saturday. This year, the absence of Shubman Gill, who scored the most runs in ODIs for India, is continuously increasing the problems of Team India.

On Sunday, the Indian team started its World Cup campaign with a match against Australia. Despite all out the Australian team for 199 runs, at one time Team India seemed to be losing the match. India had lost the wicket of Iyer along with both the openers for just 2 runs. Clearly India missed Shubman Gill in the opening.

Shubman Gill’s health deteriorated last week and symptoms of dengue were found in him. According to the report of News 18, Shubman Gill has recovered up to 70 percent. But despite this, nothing can be said about his return. It takes more than two weeks to completely recover from dengue. At present, Gill is undergoing treatment in Chennai and is out of the match against Afghanistan.

Why are gills important

The situation is not clear yet regarding when Gill will start practicing. BCCI doctors are constantly monitoring Gill’s health. There is a high possibility that Gill may be out of the match against Pakistan due to lack of practice and will be seen on the field only next week.

India’s batting in the World Cup largely depends on the top order. India does not have much depth in the lower order. Jadeja is not able to perform well with the bat in ODI matches. Ashwin has never been a reliable batsman in ODIs. Apart from this, Bumrah, Siraj and Kuldeep are not able to make any contribution with the bat. Therefore, Team India is expecting the return of its most informed batsman Gill as soon as possible.
