Gadar 2 All Time Blockbuster: Many big films were released this year which did business of more than Rs 500 crore in Bollywood. These include Rajinikanth’s Jailer, Vijay Thalapathy’s Leo, Shahrukh Khan Movies like Jawan and Pathan, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Prabhas’ Salaar are included.
Apart from all these films, another film was released which created history. This film not only made the audience feel nostalgic but also brought Sunny Deol’s career back on track. Yes, we are talking about the same film you are thinking of. The name of the film is Gadar 2. The sequel of the 2000 blockbuster film Gadar did what no other Bollywood star did this year. When we examined all these films earning above Rs 500 crore keeping in mind their budget, star cast and other parameters, we found out that this film is actually ahead of any other high-grossing film released this year.
Budget of films and their average earnings
If we only look at the highest grossing films in India, these films are included among them. (Figures given below are approximate)
- Jailer- 408.5 crores, Budget- 200 crores
- Animal – 644.5 crores (still not released from theatre), Budget – 100 crores
- Leo- 401.5 crores, Budget- 250 crores
- Jawans- 760 crores, Budget- 300 crores
- Pathan- 655 crores, Budget- 250 crores
- Gadar 2- 684.8 crores, budget 60 crores
- Salaar- 363 crores (still running in cinema halls), Budget- 270 crores
So in which parameters is ‘Gadar 2’ a better earning film than these films?
Now if we look at the list given above, if any film has the lowest budget then it is ‘Gadar 2’. If we calculate the percentage of different films, then Jailer has earned 104 percent profit, Animal 544 percent, 60 percent, Jawan 153 percent, Pathan 162 percent, Salar has earned 34 percent profit so far.
Film earning more than 10 times profit
But now if we talk about ‘Gadar 2’, this film has earned a profit of more than 1041 percent with a budget of only Rs 60 crores. Now let us try to understand it broadly. The budget of the film is only Rs 60 crore and the film has earned Rs 684.8 crore. That means more than 10 times profit directly.
The second point is that the promotion of the film was not like that of the films mentioned above. That means not much money was spent in its promotion. Thirdly, the star cast of the film was not expensive and it is also a big hit film of the film’s director Anil Sharma after almost one and a half decade. This means that there is not much separate expenditure.
Shock to the stardom of big faces
No doubt Sunny Deol is a big name in Bollywood, but his stardom was over. This is not the case with Shahrukh, Rajni and Ranbir, Prabhas. He is still a shining star even today. In such a situation, for the actors and directors who were waiting for a hit film, one of their films became such a big hit that all the other big names proved to be insignificant in front of them.
So, according to this, it would not be wrong to say that although many films have collected more than Rs. 1000 crores worldwide, but all of them are less in comparison to Gadar 2.
