In this picture taken from the International Space Station, the whole of Europe was visible, but Belgium was shining brighter than its neighboring countries. The New York Times had published a report at that time, in which it was said that Belgium uses about 22 lakh high mast lights to illuminate its streets. That means approximately 186 bulbs have been installed per square mile. For this reason there was more brightness there.

The only man-made structures visible from the Moon are those left by the Apollo missions, such as lunar modules and rovers.
